For The King II sends players into a troubled Fahrul, where Queen Rosomon has turned from her people and forced them into the mines. The aim is to resist her rule, either alone or with a party of friends. Its fantasy adventure draws on both RPG and tabletop traditions, framing the journey as a sequence of linked adventures rather than a single uninterrupted trek.
The game’s dice-inspired systems shape movement, encounters, and combat, so the route and its dangers can unfold differently from one playthrough to another. Procedurally generated maps support that variety, while the Battle Grid makes positioning part of the tactical challenge: where characters stand can bring advantages or penalties. When a party fails, the next attempt begins with stronger characters and better starting items to draft, giving defeat a role in the campaign’s progression. A separate Dark Carnival mode shifts the objective to pushing through as many dungeon floors as possible.
Play format changes how players approach that strategy. A solo player can control every character, while co-op supports up to four players online or on the same PC; with friends, coordination and negotiation become part of the experience.
