Flotsam is a single-player simulation and strategy game set in a flooded world. Its central task is to turn ocean debris into the foundations of a floating settlement: gather plastic, driftwood and salvage, then recycle those materials into homes and workshops. The premise gives scavenging a constructive purpose, as the town’s survival and growth depend on making useful things from the remains of the old world.
Town management reaches beyond construction. Players can desalinate water, process fish and furnish the settlement with plants, refurbished furniture and statues to support their drifters’ happiness. Pollution also creates a health challenge: food must be cleaned, and cures developed for pollution-born diseases. Specialists such as the Birdkeeper, Chemist and Electrician bring expertise that unlocks buildings, quests and discoveries, while personal storylines can open new mechanics. These individual roles give the community’s development a character-driven dimension.
The settlement is designed around linked production rather than isolated buildings. Research can lead from burning firewood toward eel-ectricity, while connected pipelines turn materials into a more self-sustaining ecosystem. Between managing those systems, players can set sail through soaked ruins and forgotten islands, rescue stranded survivors and friendly animals, and search for technology.
