Flashing Lights is an open-world emergency services simulator in which players can take on the role of police, fire or EMS, either alone or in online co-op. Rather than centering on one profession, it builds its premise around distinct public-service duties and the need to respond to incidents across a shared setting.
The work varies by department: police handle tasks ranging from parking enforcement to pursuing suspects, firefighters battle blazes and free trapped civilians, and EMS personnel diagnose and treat injuries. Each service has its own vehicles and equipment, while the departments can cooperate at accident scenes, with firefighters opening crashed cars so medical staff can reach casualties. Official mod support also lets players browse and install player-created vehicle liveries and uniforms in-game.
Its central appeal is the contrast between those roles and the coordination involved when emergencies call for more than one service, rather than a single fixed mission type.
