FINAL FANTASY VII frames its RPG adventure around a struggle over the planet’s resources. In Midgar, the corporation Shinra controls the city and draws on Mako energy; after the No. 1 Mako Reactor is bombed, Cloud, a former member of Shinra’s elite SOLDIER force, becomes involved with AVALANCHE’s rebellion. The central question is whether Cloud and the group can protect the planet from Shinra.
Its design combines a story-led conflict with character progression and player-directed support tools. The PC edition lists the game as single-player and offers a Character Booster that can raise HP, MP and Gil to their maximum, presenting an optional way past a difficult section or a shortage of funds. Achievements add another layer of goals, while cloud saves let players continue progress on another computer, subject to the stated connection and transfer conditions.
The premise centers on Cloud and AVALANCHE’s fight against Shinra, while achievements and the profile-sharing feature give players ways to compare accomplishments outside the story itself. Together, those details describe a single-player experience with optional progression aids and social recognition, rather than a game organized around concurrent players.
