F.E.A.R. is a first-person action game presented alongside its two expansions, Extraction Point and Perseus Mandate. Its central crisis begins when a mysterious paramilitary force takes hostages at an aerospace compound without making demands. After a Special Forces team is destroyed, the elite F.E.A.R. unit receives a stark assignment: assess the threat and stop the intruders.
The original story combines military operations with unexplained destruction, setting a tense tone around the team’s investigation. Extraction Point continues after the first game’s ending, with a helicopter crash forcing the team to seek another way out while confronting Alma and paranormal enemies in a ruined city. This continuation shifts the conflict beyond the compound into a devastated urban setting.
Perseus Mandate broadens the same crisis through a second F.E.A.R. team investigating the aerospace corporation’s hidden past and a secret project. Together, the package frames its action around overlapping military perspectives and a paranormal threat, rather than a single uninterrupted mission. The multiplayer component for Perseus Mandate is no longer available. The expansions offer distinct storylines connected to the original’s events, while the product’s core identity rests on action, tension, and horror.
