餓狼伝説 City of the Wolves Playtest is a playtest associated with FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves, SNK’s next entry in its long-running fighting series. The parent game follows GAROU: MARK OF THE WOLVES, released in 1999, as the franchise’s first new installment in 26 years. That history sets the scene for the test, but does not establish which parts of the full game it includes.
The parent game’s defining combat addition is the REV System, a set of offensive options available from the start of a battle. REV Arts, REV Accel and REV Blows, the latter usable while S.P.G. is active, let fighters press an attack until the REV Meter overheats. This risk-and-reward design makes meter management part of the game’s central fighting concept, rather than a resource reserved solely for a closing flourish.
FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves also distinguishes itself with two control styles. Arcade Style uses precise, technical inputs, while Smart Style aims to make special moves and combos accessible through directional inputs and single-button presses. Its single-player Episodes of South Town mode is described as an RPG adventure built around fights with varied conditions, XP, rewards and fighter progression. These are features of the associated game, not a guarantee of the playtest’s contents; test content may differ.
