Fata Deum – The God Sim casts you as a young deity competing with other gods for influence. Followers are more than a measure of devotion: their numbers determine your power, while your choices shape both the land and the behavior of its people. The premise makes divine rule a contest over settlements and the kind of society that grows around them, rather than simply a matter of building a kingdom.
Its central design contrasts guidance with direct intervention. You can encourage mortals with blessings or frighten them with visions, while their free will means they do not simply act as extensions of your commands. Daytime is for influencing people; at night, you can direct settlement projects such as temples, farms and lumber mills, or order attacks on other villages. The game also gives its godly role a deliberately irreverent edge, letting you physically toss mortals around alongside more consequential acts such as granting wishes, punishing disobedience and making sacrifices.
As your influence expands, the world changes in appearance, from bright and flourishing to dark and corrupted, and different gods manifest their kingdoms in distinct ways. Challenges set by the goddesses of fate frame the larger story of a deity rising to fame, while rival gods represent forces including violence, deceit, fertility and pleasure.
