Fantasy Grounds VTT is a virtual tabletop designed to help tabletop roleplaying groups play together online or around a physical table. This demo has a specific role: players can join a game hosted by a GM with an Ultimate license, or try functionality using the included rulesets. The demo does not let its user host games as a GM without a Core or Ultimate license.
The platform’s play is built around organizing a shared roleplaying session rather than a single preset adventure. Its network lobby supports hosting and joining, while tile-based map building, drawing tools and dynamic Line of Sight let groups use mapped spaces with walls, doors, terrain and hidden areas. Rulesets provide structured fields for game information, and the listed options range from D&D editions and Pathfinder to FATECore and Starfinder. Fantasy Grounds also supports using a generic ruleset for other systems, though that does not include the game-specific automation of dedicated rulesets.
Cross-platform play supports groups using Steam alongside Mac, Windows PC and Linux users. The demo’s documented joining and testing functions therefore reflect one way into the larger tabletop platform, whose licensed content and hosting capabilities depend on the relevant edition or license.
