Evil Genius 2 casts players as an aspiring world-conquering mastermind in a satirical spy-fi setting. Its central task is to build an island lair and a cover operation, then put plans for domination into motion. The villain’s base is more than a backdrop: players shape its interior to suit their play style and furnish it with devices for their minions.
Running that operation means developing a workforce as well as a fortress. Players train criminal minions, create specialists, and recruit Henchmen, while defending the lair against the Forces of Justice. Research opens up trap networks, and combining traps turns intruder defense into a tactical part of the base design. The tone stays knowingly ridiculous, with schemes ranging from kidnapping a governor to baking Alaska, all in service of a Doomsday Device.
Its distinctive appeal lies in joining base construction, workforce management, defensive planning, and absurd world-domination plots under one villainous theme.
