Adapted from an award-winning board game, Everdell casts players as founders settling new territories and building a thriving woodland city. Its fantastical setting gives resource gathering and civic growth a storybook frame, while the contest turns each settlement into a bid to finish with the highest-scoring city.
Each turn offers a choice among placing a worker to gather resources or cards, playing a Construction or Critter card, and preparing for the next season. Cards can provide resources, unlock abilities, and score points, so planning combinations matters alongside deciding where workers should go. The city has room for up to 15 cards, and the game concludes after four seasons, when scores determine the winner.
That seasonal structure gives Everdell a clear, bounded arc: develop a city over successive rounds, then compare its score with rival founders. Its blend of worker placement and strategic card play is the core appeal, whether players are testing their own plans or facing other founders.
