Escape Simulator 2 frames its puzzles as visits to richly themed escape rooms, with settings that range from Dracula’s Castle to a stranded exploration vessel and a pirate island. Each room pack is described as containing four rooms, and the scenarios give puzzle-solving a clear narrative backdrop: players might uncover a fortress’s secrets or search a damaged ship for an energy source.
The hands-on design makes ordinary objects part of the challenge. Players can pick up and examine items, wipe away dirt, drive vehicles, and move objects that are not fixed in place. The game supports solo play as well as online multiplayer for up to eight people, with voice and text chat for coordinating discoveries.
Room creation is another distinctive part of the design. Room Editor 2.0 includes lighting tools, a Building Editor for designing spaces with working stairs, and sequence animations to bring rooms to life. Together, the authored escape-room scenarios and room-building tools make Escape Simulator 2 both a puzzle adventure and a platform for creating interactive challenges, while its solo and cooperative options shape how players can approach that work.
