Enshrouded casts players as explorers in Embervale, a realm devastated after forbidden power unleashed a consuming pestilence. Its journey moves through contrasting biomes, from the sun-scorched Kindlewastes to the shadowed Revelwood, while ruins and the Shroud conceal remnants of lost cultures and a story of magic, ruin, and redemption. Survival means scavenging those ruins and facing dangers in the wilds before confronting horrors within the Shroud.
The game’s distinctive mix of survival, construction, and action RPG systems gives players several ways to strengthen their foothold. Voxel building tools support detailed structures and shelters for NPCs, who unlock workshops and crafting options. Combat against corrupted factions and deadly bosses emphasizes dodging, parrying, skills, and spells, with Wizard, Ranger, and Warrior styles shaping character builds. Players can also craft and upgrade weapons and armor, then develop skills around swords, shields, staffs, or bows.
Enshrouded supports both single-player and online co-op, with groups of up to 16 able to raid, build, and fight together. Across either format, the central goal is to grow strong enough to challenge the Shroud and reclaim hope for Embervale.
