Endzone - A World Apart is a single-player settlement-building strategy game set 150 years after an ecological disaster drove most of humanity underground. As survivors return to the surface, you lead a community facing radioactive contamination, drought, toxic rain, sandstorms and other threats. The premise makes rebuilding more than a matter of placing homes: the settlement must endure an environment that can undermine its survival.
You coordinate professions and tasks, provide shelter, water and food, and gather and refine resources to support the community. Streets, depositories and markets form part of an infrastructure for managing the settlement’s economy. Its environmental simulation gives the hazards a particular texture: each ground cell has humidity and radiation values, while rain can irrigate soil or spread contamination. Planning ahead matters when droughts recur, and radiation can require protective gear and measures such as filtering water or covering fields.
The game also sends players on expeditions to ruins, where decisions can shape the people’s fate, alongside side missions and scenarios with specific winning conditions and a distinct storyline. The experience described here is therefore about balancing community needs, infrastructure and environmental risks across a changing world.
