Exploration adds uncertainty: ruins, legends and the planet’s buried history may reveal useful discoveries, but rival peoples are also trying to survive, expand and conquer.
Its strategy reaches across settlement, diplomacy and warfare. Expand into villages and develop them into cities or fortresses; assimilate minor factions for their traits and units; and appoint heroes as army leaders or city governors. Research technologies, recover artefacts, and gather Dust, luxuries and strategic resources that can be traded. A randomly generated world lets players shape parameters such as size, shape and topography, while quests and different victory conditions give each campaign room for distinct strategic choices. Combat uses a dynamic simultaneous turn-based system, where equipment, unit abilities and terrain help determine the outcome.
