ENDER MAGNOLIA: Bloom in the Mist is a dark fantasy, 2D side-scrolling action RPG set in the Land of Fumes, a kingdom scarred by a catastrophe known as the Rain of Death. Toxic underground fumes have driven its artificial Homunculi into madness. Players follow Lilac, an Attuner who can save them, as she searches for lost memories and friends alongside Homunculi tied to the kingdom’s downfall. Its ruined cities, laboratories, academy and factories give the journey a layered setting where human and artificial life share a troubled history.
Exploration unfolds at the player’s own pace, with companions central to both combat and the story. Their abilities provide 30 distinct skills to shape a battle style, while equipment, relics and items can be collected and upgraded. Encounters pit Lilac and her allies against powerful enemies; purifying their souls and rallying companions connects the action to the larger effort to help those overcome by the Fumes. Difficulty options let players choose between a greater challenge and a more relaxed focus on the story.
The game combines side-scrolling action with RPG progression, companion interactions and a mystery about whom Lilac can save. Hand-drawn 2D art and animation, poignant cutscenes and music by Mili reinforce the contrast between a haunting world and the relationships formed within it.
