Ember Knights casts players as the last hope of a universe drained by the sorcerer Praxis. The action rogue-lite sends its knights through four Prime Worlds, where they battle corruption, confront bosses, and work to restore energy to the Ember Tree. That rescue premise gives the fighting a clear destination, while the run-based structure leaves room to experiment along the way.
Combat depends on more than choosing a weapon: players chain attacks, time their swings, and use pace and dodges to counter or stun enemies. Seven weapons, each with its own modification system, combine with skills and relics to support varied builds. Encounters include enemies with distinct attacks and behaviors, as well as tougher Elites, Champions, and bosses, so adapting a build is part of the challenge rather than a purely cosmetic choice.
The game supports solo play or cooperative runs for up to four, with online and shared-screen co-op listed among its formats. In a group, players can coordinate combos and synergies between their playstyles, making cooperation part of the combat design. Daily Dungeon, Boss Rush, and Chaos Run are also identified as game modes, offering different ways to approach the action beyond its core journey through the Prime Worlds.
