Dungeons of Hinterberg casts Luisa’s escape from corporate routine as a dungeon-exploring vacation in an Austrian alpine town. Hinterberg’s scenery is part of the draw: players can snowboard down a glacier, climb mountains, and explore lakeside surroundings. The contrast between a picturesque tourist destination and the suggestion that “not everything is as it seems” gives the adventure a mystery alongside its vacation premise.
Inside the dungeons, playful puzzles call for spells and solutions tailored to each dungeon’s twist, while monsters make sword and magic skills central to combat. The abilities described include harnessing wind, conjuring a hoverboard, and freezing enemies in jelly blocks. The game also divides its activities between exploring the world or tackling dungeons by day and spending evenings with locals and fellow adventurers, some of whom help Luisa grow stronger.
That mix of puzzle-solving, action, exploration, and social visits gives the single-player format its shape: progress moves between challenges in the wild and relationship-building in town. Players can also browse outfits and use Photo Mode with filters, poses, and overlays. A subsequent playthrough can retain inventory, stats, and most relationship perks, with an option to reset relationship progress, adding a way to revisit Luisa’s journey without making the alpine setting simply a sequence of dungeon fights.
