Dungeon Defenders: Awakened blends cooperative action RPG combat with tower defense. Players choose among the Squire, Huntress, Apprentice, and Monk, then prepare defenses around the Eternia Crystal as enemy forces approach. The setup gives each match a strategic backbone, while heroes can also jump into the fight rather than relying on their constructions alone.
Blockades, towers, traps, and auras form the defensive toolkit, and players decide where to place them and which types to build. Meanwhile, waves of foes offer loot, including weapons such as swords, crossbows, staves, and grenade launchers. Leveling, pets, gear, and character customization add role-playing progression alongside the repeated task of protecting the crystal.
The game supports solo play as well as cooperative formats, including online co-op and shared or split-screen co-op; its featured party size is up to four players. That co-op structure puts coordination at the center of the defense: players can divide attention between building, confronting enemies, and keeping Etheria’s objective safe.
