DuneCrawl casts players as Polloi pilgrims fighting the Ceramicist invasion, with its sandy world explored from the back of a gigantic Crab Crawler. The open-world adventure leads across oasis islands, through quests and secret dungeons, and into encounters with jar-headed Vassals and wild bugs. Its central vehicle is more than transport: it gives the journey a distinctive, crew-based focus.
Crawler combat calls for players to take the helm and man the cannons, load ammunition, repair damaged legs, and launch into boarding actions. The machine can also be outfitted with functional upgrades or cosmetic touches. Away from its deck, players can fight on foot with hand weapons and items, or turn local wildlife such as Bomb Flowers and Beehives against invaders. Masks, Tunics, and Talismans add player abilities, while different rideable insects offer alternate ways to move and fight.
The game supports solo play with help from a ghostly companion as well as local and online cooperative adventures for up to four players. Beetle rides, crawler battles, island exploration, and dungeon delving give those sessions several distinct forms of adventure.
