Dumb Ways to Build casts players as a crew at Dumbville’s notoriously unsafe construction company, where completing a job means assembling a route through danger rather than following a tidy building plan. Teams make platforms from whatever materials they can find, then use their creations to solve hazards and escape the worksite. The premise gives its slapstick setbacks a practical purpose: a poorly handled beam or a risky structure can disrupt the whole crew’s attempt to move forward.
The construction kit is deliberately improvised. Players can grab, rotate, and throw loose objects, then use a nail gun to fasten together bridges, ramps, and other makeshift structures. A physics-based tool belt offers ways to help or hinder the team, while Crisis Jobs challenge crews to combine tools and teamwork in hazardous settings. The game also describes maps with secrets and challenges, alongside unlockable cosmetics and extra challenge modes.
