DRAGON QUEST VII Reimagined begins on Estard, a quiet island where a young fisherman’s son and his childhood friends wonder whether their home is all the world has to offer. At the Shrine of Mysteries, they travel into the past and discover that a malevolent force has sealed away entire lands. The adventure’s central task is to uncover what happened and restore those lost places to the present.
Exploration advances through history: scattered stone fragments open portals to different eras, where players solve challenges, investigate mysteries and make allies. Each restored island changes the present, giving the game’s time-spanning premise a concrete role in its progression. The story unfolds as connected vignettes, with a streamlined main narrative intended to make this classic adventure more accessible.
Combat retains turn-based battles while adding vocational perks and the option to assign two vocations at once, combining access to both sets of skills, spells and abilities. Players can adjust battle speed or use auto-battle, and selected tactics can let turns proceed without interruptions. On the field, weaker monsters can be defeated instantly with a pre-emptive strike.
