Door To Door puts players in the role of Bixby, a detective working in the Ministry of Order’s “Correction Pending” department. The game’s setting is the Lounge District, a bureaucratic metropolis with jazz, light and a darkly colorful satirical tone. Inspired by Terry Gilliam’s film Brazil, its premise sends Bixby from the office into the city to take on cases, giving the investigation a leisurely, exploratory frame rather than presenting it as a conventional action-focused pursuit.
Players choose from a varied list of case files, then complete objectives at their own pace while exploring the district. The Ministry’s story is available through different forms of exposition, and the description frames its deeper truths as something players can pursue as much or as little as they wish. Charizmo, Bixby’s assistance bot and friend, can be commanded from its station to lead the player to locations. For more direct travel, bus stations offer instantaneous fast travel around the map.
The combination of case selection, unhurried objectives and optional story discovery defines Door To Door as a single-player adventure. Its distinctive rhythm comes from choosing how to explore, which cases to pursue and how far to follow the Ministry’s mysteries.
