Door Kickers 2: Task Force North casts players as special operations units conducting raids in the fictional Middle Eastern country of Nowheraki. Its top-down, real-time action can be paused at will, giving players room to plan and revise commands while a mission unfolds. There are no turns, hexes, or action points; the tension comes from making decisions amid a fast-moving operation.
Squad choice shapes the approach: U.S. Army Rangers emphasize firepower and coordinated force, CIA Special Activities Division operators bring covert options and surgical strikes, and Nowheraki SWAT relies on grit and improvised equipment. Missions feature threats such as IEDs and suicide bombers, alongside tools including night-vision goggles, suppressive fire, and breaching charges. Destructible surroundings and non-linear levels support different routes through an objective rather than one prescribed path.
The game offers handcrafted Operations and procedural Tours of Duty, with optional Iron Man rules that make fallen troopers permanent losses in campaign missions. Its online co-op supports up to four players, each bringing a squad and coordinating with the others.
