DOOM + DOOM II combines enhanced versions of the 1993 original and its 1994 sequel, bringing their demon-slaying premises together with a range of additional episodes. In the first game, you are the last defense against Hell; in DOOM II, Hell has invaded Earth, and the fight features more powerful weapons. The collection also includes TNT: Evilution, The Plutonia Experiment, Sigil, and Legacy of Rust.
The design pairs first-person shooter action with a substantial map collection: the combined product lists 187 mission maps and 43 deathmatch maps. DOOM II introduced the Super Shotgun, while the enhanced versions offer modern controller support, improved mouse and keyboard controls, quick save and load, and a choice of original MIDI music or modern IDKFA soundtracks. Community-published mods have an in-game browser, and BOOM source compatibility supports publishing community-created mods in-game.
Play formats include single-player, online and LAN multiplayer, and shared-screen deathmatch and co-op. The product specifies online cross-platform deathmatch and co-op for up to 16 players, with local split-screen deathmatch and co-op for up to four. Its old-school shooter foundation sits alongside a broad selection of maps and modes.
