Disgaea 7: Vows of the Virtueless sets its story in Hinomoto, a collection of netherworlds where the bushido code has given way to a destructive new order. Fuji, a demon, enters a contract with Pirilika, a wealthy young bushido enthusiast who persuades him to protect her as she pursues her ambitions. The promise of a straightforward escort arrangement is complicated by the contract’s fine print, giving this strategy RPG’s premise a mischievous edge.
Battles build on tactical team management, with more than 40 character classes available for shaping a squad around changing encounters. Jumbification, Hell Mode and Item Reincarnation add distinct systems to the mix, while stage completion unlocks improved auto-battle. Players can also test their teams in online ranked battles, giving the game both a story-led campaign structure and a competitive mode.
The design pairs elaborate combat customization with a deliberately unruly setting: Hinomoto’s demons each hold their own beliefs, while Fuji and Pirilika’s unequal partnership drives the central adventure. On PC, the game supports keyboard and mouse as well as controllers, and offers adjustable graphics options and broad aspect-ratio support. These presentation choices sit alongside the tactical systems, keeping the focus on assembling a capable team and navigating a fantastical world shaped by competing codes.
