In Disciples: Liberation, the ruined realm of Nevendaar is the setting for a dark fantasy strategy RPG built around consequential decisions. Players explore its overworld, uncover hidden history and treasures, and choose among factions including a human empire shaped by religious extremism and the undead forces of a mad queen. The story’s political tensions and branching outcomes give the journey a personal edge: choices influence what kind of leader the player becomes.
Character and army development connect exploration to tactical battles. Players select from four classes, recruit allies from different factions, gather resources, and build a base that serves as a place of planning and sanctuary. More than 50 recruitable units allow different army compositions, while turn-based encounters call for both weapons and magic. The game also sets parties against dangerous bosses, with each monster requiring a distinct strategy, so preparation and tactical choices matter alongside the broader campaign decisions.
The main format is a substantial single-player campaign arranged across three acts, with quests, objectives, and multiple endings; online play offers a separate two-player skirmish mode.
