Decktamer pairs deck-building with monster catching in a turn-based roguelike set in a dangerous abyss. The premise sends players into a giant crater in search of fortune, where increasingly bizarre creatures guard the descent. Its central choice shapes the party: defeat enemies, or tame them and add their cards to your deck.
Battles reward deliberate planning. Each card can make one move per turn, so choosing an effective sequence matters, while creatures’ unusual abilities can be transferred between them to build distinctive combinations. Recruitment also carries lasting risk: if a creature dies, its card is gone forever. That makes assembling a powerful deck inseparable from protecting the creatures in it.
The single-player format frames Decktamer as a solitary expedition built around tactical encounters, party-building and the push toward the abyss’s heart.
