Death’s Gambit: Afterlife follows Sorun, Death’s right hand, into Siradon, where immortality comes with an eternal struggle. The journey pits Sorun against the realm’s undying guardians, with the aim of purging their souls. Choices and key decisions can determine Sorun’s fate and lead to alternate endings, giving the action a story shaped by the player’s progress.
Combat emphasizes precision and a broad selection of weapons and abilities, while Metroidvania-style exploration links new movement and combat upgrades to access across the world. Players can choose from seven classes, develop talents, and multiclass to tailor their approach. The non-linear design allows levels and bosses to be tackled in different orders, with side areas hiding further secrets. Defeated bosses can also be fought in Heroic Mode, where they return with greater difficulty and new abilities. Weapons include bows, scythes, longswords, and halberds; scavenged items can be dismantled or used to craft equipment.
Listed as a single-player action, adventure, and RPG, Afterlife frames its exploration, boss fights, and character customization as one player’s journey through Siradon rather than a shared multiplayer session.
