DeadPoly casts the player into the opening stages of a zombie apocalypse, where lawlessness has spread and survival is the central aim. It is a polygon-styled arcade looter shooter, but combat is only one part of the routine: scavenging, crafting, building and exploration all support a self-directed approach. The game explicitly makes those pursuits optional, leaving players to decide what survival means for them.
Its systems connect practical needs with long-term preparation. Keep hunger and thirst under control, gather raw materials, then fortify an existing building or construct a base from scratch. Crafting covers a wide range of items, while scavenging and combat can turn up loot; found or crafted gun attachments let players tailor a weapon to their preferred style. Vehicles can be found, repaired and maintained, and farming, hunting and fishing offer other ways to pursue food or resources. A day-and-night cycle and changing weather add conditions to prepare for, while grid-based inventory management makes carrying and organizing equipment part of the experience.
DeadPoly supports solo play as well as online server-based multiplayer and online co-op with friends. Whichever mode they choose, players can shape their own priorities within a world built around scavenging, preparation and staying alive.
