Dead Estate sends players into a monster-filled mansion in a gory, fast-paced roguelike shooter shaped by Halloween and horror influences. Its ascent through the Estate is built around compact rooms and tense, close-quarters combat, giving the action an isometric perspective rather than the feel of an open-ended exploration game.
Runs draw on a large selection of weapons and items, while alternate floors and floor variants add variety to the mansion. Players can choose among ten characters with distinct playstyles, pursue secrets and unlockables, or adjust the challenge through difficulty levels, Blessing and Curse modifiers, and custom Challenge Runs. A separate campaign, Assignment Anya, follows a fledgling actress trying to escape the warped estate after her film crew is attacked by the undead; its survival-horror inspiration distinguishes it from the main game’s shooter-focused runs.
The game is listed as single-player, so its play format centers on individual progress through its campaigns and replayable challenges rather than shared sessions.
