Dark Roll: Free Kick Challenge recasts football free kicks as a ball-rolling simulator, with players controlling an orb and trying to put it in the goal. This spin-off of the original Dark Roll pairs simple-to-understand controls with demanding challenges, making precision the heart of its design rather than a full match of conventional football.
Solo challenges offer goals to pursue, while separate leaderboard modes invite players to compete for scores. For direct competition, ranked multiplayer stages a free-kick shootout in which each player gets five chances to score.
Progression is tied to completing tasks that unlock additional orbs. Their parameters vary across size, speed, braking, power, swerve and jumping, so the choice of orb can shape the feel of a shot. With more than twenty orbs listed, many unlockable, the game combines repeatable challenges with a roster of differently tuned options.
