Dark Hours begins with a robbery that quickly collapses into a fight to survive. After the crew breaks into a building, the power fails, a monster appears, and the would-be thieves must find a way out. The game supports play alone or with friends, framing each attempted heist as a tense escape rather than a straightforward score.
Its distinctive hook is the collision of criminal planning and survival horror. Players can explore five settings, from an auction house and museum to a casino, power plant, and cruise ship, while using tools such as hacking devices, EMPs, scanners, and tasers. Objectives range from stealing artifacts to destroying evidence or escaping with a jackpot. Security systems, puzzles, and minigames add obstacles, while careless movement can draw a monster’s attention. Eight monsters have different abilities, strengths, and weaknesses, and cooperation can involve sharing loot or taking it from a teammate.
Dark Hours also layers repeatable progression onto its heists: contracts and loot contribute to reputation with three mafia factions, which unlock gear, while customization items let players shape their character’s appearance. Four difficulty settings include Nightmare Mode.
