Daily Chthonicle: Editor's Edition casts you as the boss and editor of a supernatural newspaper agency in a haunted town. Its setting draws on H. P. Lovecraft and the uncertainty and noir atmosphere of the 1940s, with ghosts, zombies, monsters, and human-seeming shapeshifting killers. The central challenge is not simply to encounter horrors, but to uncover what is behind each case and turn that discovery into material for readers.
You send a sextet of journalists, detectives, and occult specialists to investigate crimes and strange events. A werewolf, a body-stealing alien, a haunting mummy, Jack the Ripper, or a tentacled presence beneath a university may be the culprit. That shifting roster gives the investigation its identity: the team must find out what kind of threat the town is facing before the editor can tell its story.
The game is listed as single-player, so its defining format is a solo role overseeing a team rather than a shared newsroom. Its appeal rests on the combination of case-by-case mystery, an occult setting, and the editorial task of entertaining readers while confronting ancient evil.
