DAEMON X MACHINA casts players as an Outer, a new kind of human who emerged after the Moonfall calamity and now fights as a mercenary for Orbital. The mission is to defend humanity from the Immortals, corrupted AIs that have turned against their creators. Its battlefield is shaped by uneasy alliances: the game warns that other mercenaries can be allies one day and opponents the next.
Combat centers on the Arsenal, a customizable mech built for high-speed action. Players can tune its weapons and parts to their specifications, then salvage equipment from defeated enemies and put it to use on the battlefield. The design also ties character progression to a striking trade-off: body modifications grant new skills while diminishing the avatar’s human appearance. Battles range from fights against corrupted machines to clashes with towering Colossal Immortals.
The play format spans solo missions, online co-op and direct player-versus-player competition. Co-op brings players together to take on bosses or explore Immortal bases for powerful gear; Versus Mode pits them against one another in one-on-one or two-on-two matches.
