Cyanide & Happiness - Freakpocalypse (Episode 1) casts players as Coop “Go Away, Weirdo” McCarthy, an unpopular orphan trying to make the world a better place while navigating the cruelties of high school. His ambitions collide with bullies, teachers and a town that does not welcome his help. The game’s central question is whether Coop can become the hero he imagines himself to be, or even make it through school alive.
This is a single-player point-and-click adventure built around examining the world and interacting with its inhabitants. Players look at, talk to and touch objects throughout Netherton, while helping its residents through side quests. The comedy comes through in the specific, oddball possibilities: an appealing clock can be asked to prom, while a rotting piece of fruit can be touched. Exploration also turns up costumes, Easter eggs and secrets, with achievements tied to how thoroughly players investigate.
The setting draws on the Cyanide & Happiness universe, bringing familiar characters such as Ted Bear, Shark Dad and Señor Cleanfist into an adventure with fully voiced characters, animated shorts and original music. Coop’s main story can be completed in a few hours, while exploring more of Netherton can extend the experience considerably.
