In Cultures - Northland, Loki’s exile from Asgard sets a mythic conflict in motion. Seeking revenge on Odin, he entangles four human heroes in schemes and dangers drawn from Nordic legend. Their task is to help allies escape his plots, from a serpent plague to the demon wolf Fenris, giving the strategy game an adventure-led purpose beyond building a settlement.
The settlement grows from a humble town into a large city, while players safeguard the health and safety of its people. Exploration and trade add another layer: unknown territories invite discovery, and trade routes connect the settlement with other tribes. Meanwhile, inexperienced fighters can develop into renowned heroes, linking community growth with the game’s questing and combat-facing story. Three difficulty levels offer different challenges, and the blend of strategy, quests, and adventure is central to Northland’s design.
That distinction sits alongside a campaign premise built around a small community, expanding settlement, and heroes caught up in Loki’s intrigues. Northland’s appeal is therefore not just the scale of its city-building, but the way exploration, trade, character growth, and mythic quests share the same strategy-adventure framework.
