Cube Racer is a round-based racing game built around a changing track. Players race cubes to the finish, then add obstacles to the map for the next round. Since everyone faces the same course and conditions, competition hinges on both racing skill and anticipating how the course will evolve, rather than gaining an advantage from winning the previous round.
Its format mixes multiplayer competition with creation. Players can place obstacles, boosters, or dangerous objects between rounds, shaping a route that may become harder or easier. Performance earns credits to unlock and upgrade obstacle types, and players choose which obstacles to bring into a game. A map editor supports custom courses, which can be played on a player’s server or shared through Steam Workshop.
For solo play, Cube Racer offers a campaign-like mode in which players race on maps with predefined obstacles and try to set fast times. Multiplayer is available online or locally, including split-screen PvP, and the game supports dedicated servers. The result is a racing design that pairs direct competition with course-building decisions, while its single-player mode offers a different way to test pace against established layouts.
