Touhou Rinrinki ~ Crafts of the Lucky Beast is a card-battling game set amid a new Incident in Gensokyo: a sudden craze for duels. Reimu, the shrine maiden and an experienced incident resolver, investigates the mystery, though other duelists are also drawn into the affair. The premise gives the battles a larger purpose: uncover what is behind the craze and confront the force driving it.
Deck construction is central, with more than 200 unique cards associated with four seasons. Players battle a roster of over 30 opponents, collect more than 100 items, and upgrade each duelist’s distinctive skill. Together, these systems make progression about shaping a deck and strengthening a chosen character while working toward the mastermind behind the chaos, rather than treating each duel as an isolated match.
The game also describes several different ways to engage with its card strategy: an ever-changing Arena, Gensokyo exploration through tournaments, tactical puzzles, and challenges against legendary duelists. These modes broaden the design beyond its investigation-led battles, mixing repeatable competition with tests of planning.
