Company of Heroes: Tales of Valor expands a real-time strategy setting shaped by the Second World War through three campaigns told from different sides of the conflict. Its episodes move between a German Tiger tank unit facing British forces on D-Day, American paratroopers in the aftermath of the landings, and Wehrmacht troops attempting to resist the Allied advance. Each storyline brings its own missions and objectives within a persistent environment, giving the expansion a campaign structure built around several distinct perspectives rather than one continuous army’s journey.
The tactical layer pairs strategic decisions with direct control of battlefield units. Players can aim, fire, and maneuver in real time as conditions change, while new infantry and vehicles broaden the forces available; examples include the amphibious Schwimmwagen and the maneuverable Staghound armored car. That combination gives moment-to-moment handling a more immediate role alongside the larger task of directing forces and responding to the battle. New maps draw on famous engagements, including Villers-Bocage, for competitive online play.
Its three added multiplayer modes also offer different ways to organize a match: Panzerkrieg centers on tank commanders, Assault puts players behind a hero unit pushing enemy lines, and Stonewall asks a team to defend against waves of attackers. Rather than a single uniform experience, Tales of Valor offers campaign missions, competitive battles, and cooperative defense.
