Colony Survival combines settlement building with a growing defensive challenge. Planting a banner establishes a colony, and recruiting more colonists brings more monsters to invade. Players shape the terrain as well as the settlement, using walls, moats and forts for defense while bridges, tunnels, stairs and elevated or underground routes guide colonists through a world where monsters also navigate dynamically.
Progression runs from primitive Stone Age jobs toward advanced technologies through a science system. Colonists produce materials, while players study clay tablets and scrolls, sell luxury goods and unlock new jobs, blocks, upgrades and weapons. Some resources are found only in particular locations, encouraging exploration and the establishment of outposts in places such as mountaintops and swamps; gliders and rails provide ways to travel between locations. The result is a strategy game where infrastructure, research, defense and expansion are closely connected.
Colony Survival supports both solo play and cooperative worlds. Mod support and settings that can disable monsters also let players customize the experience, including choosing a more peaceful building focus.
