Colony Ship: A Post-Earth Role Playing Game is an isometric, turn-based party RPG set aboard the Starfarer, a generation ship bound for Proxima Centauri. Centuries into its voyage, the ship’s original government has fallen after a violent mutiny, leaving passengers to survive amid rival factions and decaying infrastructure. Your character begins in the Pit, a rough settlement built from cargo containers, where life is shaped by scarcity and the Ship’s rigid social divides.
The game combines party-based combat with a skill-focused character system, branching dialogue, and quests that can be approached in different ways. Rather than treating every problem as a fight, it gives choices consequences: decisions affect which passengers become allies or enemies as you navigate the factions competing for control. Its setting gives those choices a distinctive pressure, since the ship is not simply a vehicle between destinations but the enclosed world generations of passengers have known.
The Starfarer’s abandoned Hydroponics complex, fortified rooftops, scavenged government center, and stripped shuttle bay show different traces of the mutiny and the colony mission that has lost its way. The result is a science-fiction RPG centered on negotiating power and survival in a crumbling society, with combat set alongside dialogue and consequential decisions. Its bleak, confined shipboard setting draws on Heinlein’s Orphans of the Sky while grounding the conflict in the everyday lives of people who will never reach the planet their ancestors set out to colonize.
