CLANNAD follows Tomoya Okazaki, a guarded student at Hikarizaka High School trying to find meaning amid a troubled home life. He meets Nagisa, who is repeating her senior year, and she proposes reviving the school drama club. Tomoya joins her effort, which brings them into contact with other students and frames the story around friendship, solace, and belonging.
This single-player adventure centers on its characters and their school project, rather than shared matches. Steam achievements are supported, and an in-game menu lets players review their progress. The English version also includes Dangopedia, a reference tool for aspects of Japanese tradition and pop culture. These features sit alongside the story, offering achievement tracking and cultural context without changing its focus on the students’ relationships.
A count should therefore be read in light of the game’s single-player structure. Its defining premise is Tomoya and Nagisa’s attempt to rebuild a school club while forming connections with fellow students, giving the adventure its distinctive school-life drama.
