City Bus Manager turns public transport planning into a hands-on management simulation. Players choose a hometown or another city, then create bus routes using map information drawn from OpenStreetMap. Existing services can be recreated or redesigned, while passenger volumes and journey times are tied to real-world data. That gives route planning a geographic and operational frame rather than treating the city as a blank backdrop.
The work extends beyond drawing lines on a map. Players build a depot with parking, garages, offices, maintenance and washing facilities, then buy buses and manage spare parts and upkeep. Hiring drivers, mechanics and other staff adds a workforce to coordinate, and a service center lets the company sell tickets. Passenger feedback, operating costs and scheduling all contribute to the challenge of keeping the network running. The game also includes scenario mode, varied bus models, and workshop support for player-created buses, scenarios and networks.
Its single-player format makes the experience a self-directed business and transport-planning exercise: each player develops a network and depot at their own pace rather than coordinating a shared transit operation. It is less about competing against other operators than balancing routes, vehicles, staff and passenger needs.
