Chime is a single-player puzzle game built around a race between spatial planning and a changing soundtrack. Players rotate and place shapes on a grid, aiming to complete solid quads and cover the playing surface before time expires. Its central hook is that filling the board is not just a visual objective: placed pieces and completed shapes interact with the music, making each move part of a remix.
The game features tracks by musicians including Moby and Paul Hartnoll of Orbital. Filling the grid alters the track loop, individual placements play notes, and completed quads trigger song samples. Each of its six levels pairs its own music with a distinct grid and set of shapes; the listed levels include “Still Alive,” inspired by Portal. Once players reach full coverage, they can reset the grid and continue, pursuing a higher score.
For a different pace, free-play mode offers three difficulty settings as well as an option to make music without time pressure. Its distinctive appeal lies in joining block placement, score chasing and soundtrack remixing within the same compact format.
