Children of Morta is an action RPG about the Bergsons, a family of heroes confronting a spreading Corruption. Rather than follow one permanent protagonist, you take control of different family members, each with a distinct fighting style. Its hand-painted pixel art, frame-by-frame animation and modern lighting give the dangerous world a distinctive visual identity, while the story centers on familiar emotions such as love, hope, loss and sacrifice.
Dungeon runs combine hack-and-slash combat with procedurally generated layouts, so each adventure changes the arrangement of its caves and lands. The family includes a sword-and-shield warrior, an archer, a dagger fighter, a fire mage and other specialists, with skills spanning ranged attacks, magic, healing, blocks and evasions. Character development extends beyond individual heroes: leveling up also develops the family. There is no permadeath, and players can switch family members between runs; dungeons offer side quests and extra experience, with a boss fight at the end of each dungeon.
Children of Morta supports solo play as well as local and online co-op. Online co-op is available in Story and Family Trials, and the game also offers shared-screen co-op.
