Child of Light casts Aurora, a young girl from 1895 Austria, into Lemuria, a fairytale continent where the Queen of the Night has stolen the sun, moon and stars. Her journey home unfolds as a story told in verse and rhyme, set against scenery presented as a living painting. That combination gives the adventure a storybook identity while framing Aurora’s quest as more than a search for a way back.
Exploration leads through a vast land of distinctive locations and dungeons, with encounters ranging from forest spirits and talking mice to witches and sea serpents. In battle, an Active-Time system puts Aurora’s party choices at the center: varied skill trees and a deep party system offer different ways to face enemies. The firefly Igniculus also joins the fights, making the companion part of the game’s combat design rather than only a detail of its fairytale setting.
Child of Light is listed as both single-player and multiplayer, with shared or split-screen play and Remote Play Together among its supported categories. Its cooperative option lets a friend play as Igniculus alongside Aurora, using drop-in, drop-out play. That makes the game’s player-count context distinct from an RPG built only around solo exploration: its central quest is designed for a single protagonist, while a second person can share the adventure through the firefly’s role.
