Chicken Invaders Universe places recruits in the United Hero Force, humanity’s defense against intergalactic chickens bent on revenge for the treatment of Earth chickens. Players begin in a remote star system and work toward advancement through UHF ranks, giving the arcade-action premise a career frame. Its galaxy spans many star systems and missions, with assignments drawn from 15 mission types.
Combat is built around fast shooting, with more than 200 chickens able to appear on screen at once and large boss encounters. Players can use 15 weapons, upgrade equipment, collect bonuses and medals, and buy or sell gear. The game also lets players customize a fleet of spacecraft. Daily competitive challenge missions and leaderboards add competitive activities alongside the broader mission roster, while the comic chicken-versus-human conflict sets the tone for the action.
The play format includes flying missions with friends, with support for groups of up to 99 players, as well as competitive challenges and rankings. Its oversized chicken waves and fleet customization make the experience more expansive than the premise alone might suggest.
