Cataegis: The White Wind casts players as Cataegis, an enforcer for the Order of Caeliger, caught in a war over Earth’s future. The opposing force is Ishtar, a self-proclaimed deity, and her followers. Its 2D arcade action presentation draws on 8-bit side-scrolling games, pairing that conflict with pixel art cinematics and a retro soundtrack.
Combat is built around mobile movement and a varied weapon arsenal rather than simply advancing and firing. Cataegis can double jump and slide, while dual wielding adds another way to bring weapons to bear against enemies. The game describes its action as fast and fluid, with multiple techniques and varied weapons; the old-school side-scrolling format keeps those fights at the center of the experience.
Beyond its combat, the story includes choices that shape which ending players reach, with more than twenty endings available. Unlockable art and background information also give players material to discover alongside the narrative, making Cataegis a mix of arcade-style fighting and branching story progression.
