Captivity is a single-player horror game that begins with its protagonist waking in a grim basement, surrounded by the smell of rotting flesh and signs that other people may have been held there. With memory gone and vision impaired, the character has little idea where they are. Shouting from above points toward the stairs as the apparent route out.
The central objective is escape, with the player facing whatever stands in the way while trying to make sense of the immediate surroundings. The setup makes uncertainty part of the experience: dirty sheets and filthy walls hint at a wider human presence, but offer no clear account of what happened. The game frames this as a bloody horror experience built around death, hopelessness and tension.
Rather than presenting a broad adventure premise, Captivity keeps its focus on a vulnerable person trapped below ground and the push toward a possible exit. Its combination of impaired perception, blank memory and sounds from upstairs establishes the threat before its cause is known. The result is a tightly framed horror scenario centered on confinement and escape.
