Boyfriend Dungeon blends a summer-of-self-discovery story with action combat and dating. The player moves into a cousin’s apartment and enters the “dunj” to clear creatures, earn cash, and build confidence. A twist turns the weapons found there into potential partners, while a mystery unfolds around abducted and damaged weapons. That combination gives dungeon runs a personal stake beyond simply fighting through enemies.
Combat varies with the weapon: daggers reward hard hits and quick dodges, while the Lasersaber is suited to taking on crowds. The dungeons and challenges are generated, and romance continues outside them through outings such as trips to the club or beach. Players can craft gifts for their partners and give them at the right moment, whether in the dungeon or out on the town. The game also makes room for friendship, including the possibility of reaching the highest Love Rank platonically, and presents romance across male, female, and non-binary characters.
Its single-player format centers the experience on one player’s combat choices, relationships, and investigation rather than cooperative play. The result is a distinctive RPG and simulation hybrid where getting to know a weapon can be part of the adventure as much as learning how to fight with it.
